Brighton Freakshow vid

Top post

There has been so much fantastic feedback and coverage of the Brighton Freakshow. Here is a brilliant little post from the Topshop blog

Peace 2.0

I created this original artwork around 2 years ago and decided to have another play around with it today. Feel free to leave feedback. Im always keen to get some constructive criticism

Rave Anthems

I was trawling through the archives today, putting a somewhat bandaid portfolio together, and realised this album artwork never made it on to my site. This one proved a bit of a challenge by trying create something relevant for today, but with a 90′s rave theme to it.

Glug Brighton

As the next Glug Brighton approaches, i realised i never put up the mural that Mega Munden and I threw up for the last one. As part of the Mcfaul Studio crew we were set the challenge of creating something based around the theme “Crimes of passion”. Check out some more images of the mural here

The Umlaut

My Friend Andy C is setting up a type foundry and has asked me to contribute some typefaces to the project. Typography is my biggest passion in the spectrum of design, so I’m really excited about getting my first complete typeface created and out there.

Keep your eye on the blog here. Plenty more to come

Get your freak on!

I have to apologise for my lack of frequent blog posts. Im officially back on it and will endeavour to update it as often as possible. Firstly i need to talk up the Brighton Freakshow that will be showing during the Brighton Fringe Festival in May. Its going to be a brilliant showcase of some of Southern Englands best Illustrative talents (I feel privileged to be included as im only a newby around the area). Ill have some limited edition prints for sale online (unless they all sell out at the show) More details here

MEGA THREADLESS!!

Check out my man Megamundens collab piece with ede up on Threadless. Get voting as i want to be wearing one of these as soon as the weather gets a bit warmer. You can also purchase one of the bad boy prints at chrisede.net

Welcome 2010!

Week one in my new position with the creative juggernauts Mcfaul Studio did not disappoint. Cast straight into the deep end of aesthetic wonderment has cleaned away the christmas/NY haze.

I will keep you all updated about the beautiful creations that will no doubt flow freely from this new and exciting opportunity

2010

As this year comes to an end so does the Velvet Spectrum in its current capacity. I have become very fortunate to get the opportunity to work with the guys that originally inspired me to take VS to the masses. Its been an awesome ride that wont completely stop but from 2010 ill be pulling up a pew with the crew @ mcfaul studio in the UK

There will just be more love in the tank now for those of you interested in taking on any creative endeavours that you have.

Count down

Time is drawing to an end for me and the little wife in the homeland Aus. We’ve got ourselves a one way ticket to the home of warm beer and soccer riots. Not quite sure if it was the smartest idea to trade the Aussie summer for the English winter, but nonetheless we are pumped for a change and looking forward to seeing some old faces and meeting some new ones.

Some more of more

This artwork was created for the digital release of one of Australias premier DJ/Producers Sam la More. First up was to develop a fresh logo and then to design a surreal world to house it. i enjoyed working on this bad boy. Check out the track hereHUSSYCD_samlamore_a

Lotta logos

Logos have become quite a large part of my workload recently. Here is just a couple of recent additions to the portfolio. Both of the logos are for seperate club nights in Brisvegas (Brisbane). A site is underway for the Atomic Tetris boys. Check out the cool little animation holding down the fort here. Feel free to leave feedback.

atomic

“Atomic Tetris is the brainchild of two Brisbane lads, aiming to bring the biggest, out of control parties to the under-eighteen scene. Providing massive venues and larger than life DJ’s all in an alcohol free environment.

VULTURE MUSIC

Ok so i dont know if the music is any good, but i stumbled across this artwork in some blog, somewhere i cant remember. it reminds me of the Massive Attack ‘Collected’ cover artwork. If the music is a true reflection of the artwork, then i think ill be a fan. Ill track it down and let you know.alan-braxe-vulture

Zawada

Jonathan Zawada is one clever cat – mastering just about any creative endeavor he undertakes. He has set the standard that all Aussie designers should aspire to. The concepts behind his work is what sets him apart from the rest. Ive had the privilege of getting my ass handed to me by him a number of times on MOS album pitches. Check out the bevy of amazing work here

MOS Annual South Africa

I touched on some work i was doing for the South African faction of Ministry of Sound a little while back, and now here it is. The World Cup is being held in SA next year and the brief was to capture the great sense of pariotism surrounding the World Cup. We also developed a really fun extension of the album release by creating a foozball table to be given away as prizes to coincide with the release. I was really stoked with how the final product turned out. I should mention a big thanks to Karl Anderson: a true gentleman and a great supporter of the VS

Fluxe

Even though my good friend Trav White hails from north of the border, i wont hold it against him. He has been one of my biggest supporters since Velvet Spectrum started getting serious. The boy knows how to throw a party, and perhaps as a sign of maturity (perhaps not) he is taking Fluxe in a new and interesting direction. Concealing the debauchery behind suits and fancy frocks.

Remix Heaven TVC

One of the most recent albums ive worked on is the 2009 release of Remix Heaven. Put out by my good friends at Ministry of Sound Australia. This TVC was brought to life by Marc Jago at Molotov Productions based in Sydney. It gets 2 big thumbs up from me. Once i get some samples of the physical artwork, ill whack them up.
